Jason Pierre Lewis

Jason Pierre Lewis peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 24, 2015 at 4:10am with his devoted wife, Ivy Lewis, at his bedside. Jason?s courageous spirit, curiosity and love for God enabled him to endure through pain and suffering. He fought the good fight of faith until the end. Jason was born on May 9, 1968 in Washington, DC. He is the son of Thomas Lewis and adoptive mother, Lucille Lewis. Jason was the oldest son of two siblings, Issa El and Tisha Lewis Ellison. At the tender age of 15, Jason, Issa and Tisha were brought to the Lord at the doctor?s office and all three were later baptized by the late Pastor Make Archie Carver from Goodwill Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from the DC Public School system, Whittier Elementary, Paul Junior High, and Calvin Coolidge High School. He attended the Upward Bound College Preparatory Program at Howard University. He matriculated to the University of the District of Columbia and then worked as a White House intern for two years. Jason had varied interests, including accounting, singing, modeling, and reading. He chose his heartfelt profession as a barber, attended school, and eventually worked at Preston?s Barber Shop. In 1999, Jason met Ivy Bean and became best friends. On November 15, 2012, Pastor Goodloe joined this lovely couple in holy matrimony. Praising God for the experiences and opportunities to have shared in this wonderful life are, his wife, Ivy Lewis, parents Thomas and Lucille Lewis, brother Issa El and sister Tisha Lewis Ellison. Jason is survived by other brothers Edward Spriggs and Frank Lassory; and other sisters Jacqueline Lucas, and Linda Marshall. One brother, David Sims, preceded Jason in death. He also has a host of surviving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. From his wife, Ivy Lewis: Jason was a very hard worker his entire life. He worked part-time at Preston?s Barber Shop along with working part-time with RR Donnelly for several years. Jason was also an entrepreneur with various disciplines such as vending with flowers and clothing along with real estate investing. Jason also worked as a waiter to help pay his way to earn his Master?s Degree in accounting and maintained his CPA. Even with stage four cancer, Jason defeated the odds by working before his death. He was a hero to me and his friends, but especially to his doctors who were amazed at his continuous fight to survive. He worked hard every day and devoted himself even through pain, sickness, suffering, and weakness just so that he could be the best provider to his loving wife. Most importantly, he was a very generous man who loved to give. He gave clothes, food and shoes to the homeless, family and friends in need. One of Jason?s favorite scriptures was ?Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.? (Psalm 119:133) In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations on behalf of Jason P.
