Robert (Robin) Edward Scott, Jr.

Robert Edward Scott, Jr., affectionately known as ?Robin? to family and friends, was born in Washington, DC on February 9, 1949 to Marline Thompson Scott and Robert Edward Scott, Sr. Robin attended Phelps Vocational High School in Washington, DC. Robin was a great athlete and loved all sports in particular football, basketball, baseball and especially boxing. He also was a great swimmer and really enjoyed fishing. At one time he coached a youth football team, played with two city-wide football teams, the Stonewalls and the DC Bears. Later in life also played touch football with a team known as the Bandits. Robin lived his life to the fullest and always said that if he had the chance to do it again, he would do it the same way. Robin enjoyed time with his family especially when he was able to talk about becoming a Mason with his brother and Uncles Clarence and Henry. Later in life, Robin began to frequently attend church with his family and enjoyed the time he shared with them. Robin also enjoyed spending time with a group of his friends known as the ?Ridge Road Crew.? Most of these friendships began in Junior High School and lasted into adulthood. The ?Ridge Road Crew? continued to hang out together at parties, cook-outs and other planned events. It was in 1984 at one of these functions Robin met a woman, Geraldine (Jerri) Powell, and they were married on August 23, 1989. Because of his love for football, Robin enjoyed working with the grounds crew at RFK Stadium and was there for over 25 years. His family and friends attended many games at RFK stadium, had some great times and will always cherish these memories. Although Robin was a devoted and faithful Redskins fan, he became a Pittsburgh Steelers fan due to the team leaving RFK stadium. Robin becoming a Pittsburgh Steelers fan wasn?t by happenstance; though his wife and mother-in-law were both from Pittsburgh so it was a perfect fit for the couple. He became very close to his mother-in-law, Roberta Garrett, and enjoyed sharing their home with her after she moved from Pennsylvania due to illness. Robin helped care for his mother-in-law until her homegoing in 2010. After his own heroic struggle with various illnesses, Robin departed this world on the morning of Saturday May 10, 2014. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Geraldine ?Jerri? Scott; two children, Laura Laresse Scott and James C. Stokes (Gail); mother, Marline Thompson Scott; brother, Juan Scott (Arithia); sister, Iris Scott Payton (Earnest); two uncles, three aunts, two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a host of other loving relatives and close friends.
